Masters Of Maple Introduce The “Black Ugly” Snare Drum Featuring The New M-Casttm Single Flanged Brass Hoop
Los Angeles, California: November 1sh 2011 - Masters of Maple drums announced the newest addition to the growing snare vault; The “Black Ugly” snare drum. The shell pays homage to the storied drums of the past century. The drum itself displays a modern profile with a nostalgic feel, however the components, and industrial design are nothing short of technologically advanced.
Like all Masters of Maple products it would not be right without a unique shell. Made by rolling 1.2mm sheets of hi grade German brass it is then brazed for an optimal structural integrity. The shell is then torched by none other than company founder and CEO Sahir Hanif. Proprietary compounds and firing techniques are used to create a finish that is nothing short of a work of art.
The Black Ugly will be part of the soon to be released Neo-Classic series. It is available in either a 6.5x14 or 8x14 size; the customer may also choose the amount of lugs desired. [8 or 10] The Black Ugly snare comes standard with 2.5mm brass triple flanged hoops, but may also be outfitted with the new M-Casttm single flanged hoops. The new single flanged hoops are made of heavy gauge brass. One of the key design features is a revamped claw hook; showcasing the countless hours of modern engineering on this very “vintage drum.” The snare will also include a SKB soft case, and will sell on the street for $850.00 USD. Preorders will begin immediately.
When asked about the new model Company CEO and founder Sahir Hanif said, “The Idea for this drum came to me while playing drums with a friend of mine, and drumming iconoclast in his own rite, [We’ll call him Mr. T] He like so many esteemed artists, and producers I have been lucky enough to work with; were in love with the drums of yesteryear. However because of many factors, these drums [I won’t name any names, but you can imagine which drum in particular I am referring to] were so inconsistent, and made it hard to find drums to satisfy their needs: this drove me crazy. I set out to capture that legendary tone, and by incorporating my perception and manufacturing, the black ugly was born. I am very happy with the aesthetic features, and in regards to tone I can honestly say this drum is first class.”
In true Masters of Maple fashion; this new addition will adhere to the newly implemented production and distribution model. Fifty [50] snares will be released in total for the remainder of 2011 and 2012. The limited production of the Black Ugly offerings has been put in to effect immediately.
